Naveen Jindal led JSPL Wins Utkal- C Coal Block in Odisha

    NEW DELHI/BHUBANESWAR: Naveen Jindal led Jindal Steel and Power Limited, has won the Utkal-C Coal Block in Odisha’s Angul-Talcher Coal belt after offering 45% premium to Government. The block has geographical resources of 196.347 MT.

    The JSPL won it as the Coal Ministry released its results of day 2 and day 3 of Commercial Coal Mine Auction – 3rd Tranche.

    Aditya Birla Group’s led Hindalco Industries Limited won Meenakshi Coal block in Odisha while Assam Mineral Development Corporation Limited won Garampani block in Assam, BS Ispat Limited won Majra block in Maharashtra. E-auction was in progress till 10:00 AM on 11.02.2022 for Namchik Namphuk in Arunachal Pradesh.

    Ministry of Coal had launched the auction of coal mines for commercial mining under 13th Tranche of CMSP Act and 3rd Tranche of MMDRAct on October 12, 2021. On the 2nd and 3rdday of the e-auction, cumulativel five coal mines were put up for auction of which three coal mines were CMSP coal mines and two were MMDR coal mines.

    All five coal mines are fully explored coal mines. The total geological reserves for these  coal mines are 528.051 Million Ton.Cumulative PRC for these coal mines is 16.07 MTPA.

    The government has put on sale 10 coal mines in the third round of commercial coal mining.On the first day of auction on February 8, five blocks were sold.Dalmia Cement Bharat Ltd had emerged as the highest bidder for two coal blocks in Jharkhand.While Mahanadi Mines and Minerals emerged as the highest bidder for a coal block in Odisha, Yazdani Steel And Power was the highest bidder for another coal mine in the eastern state, coal ministry had said in a statement . Assam Mineral Development Corp Ltd was the higest bidder for a mine in Assam.
