NEW DELHI/BHUBANESWAR: The Jindal Steel and Power Limited Chairman and former 2 times Lok Sabha MP, Naveen Jindal on Sunday came down heavily on Chhattisgarh’s Surajpur Collector Ranbir Sharma for his unruly behaviour with general public despite being an IAS officer.
“The conduct of our officers should be guided by empathy, especially in these difficult times. This cavalier attitude displayed by the Surajppur collector is unbecoming of an IAS officer and brings down the prestige and image of the IAS fraternity.IAS and IPS officers comprise of our best talents & people look up to them. While there are many officers who have won the hearts of the people, there sadly are some like these. It’s important that our officers are not just well trained, but well behaved as well. @IASassociation,” JSPL Chairman Naveen Jindal tweeted @MPNaveenJindal. The JSPL Chairman also shared the video clip which had gone viral in social media in his official twitter handle.
“The IAS Association strongly condemns the behaviour of Collector Surajpur, Chhattisgarh. It is unacceptable & against the basic tenets of the service & civility.Civil servants must have empathy & provide a healing touch to society at all times, more so in these difficult times,” IAS Association tweeted @IASassociation.
In the video, the man can be seen showing a piece of paper and something on his mobile phone to the collector who takes the device and throws it to the ground. The IAS officer is then seen slapping the man and encouraging two policemen who rush to the spot and start hitting the man with sticks.
