BHUBANESWAR:Even though the BJD was in power in Odisha for a long time, it was not taking any steps for the backward classes deprived of the central list in a planned manner. The backward classes were deprived of their rights by the BJD. However, the Central OBC Commission has promised that as soon as the state government submits the report, it will conduct a study in Delhi and include the deprived SEBC category of Odisha in the central list of OBC categories, said Surtha Biswal.
Shri Biswal said that the National OBC Commission Chairman has returned to Delhi after completing his 2-day Odisha visit. During the discussion with the state workers of the BJP OBC Morcha, the Central OBC Commission also accepted the arguments of the Odisha ACBCs and expressed its opinion on accepting their demands.
The Central Commission has accepted that more than 50 castes from Odisha are eligible for inclusion in the Central List of OBC categories. It has been advised that the representatives from various castes should submit all the certificates to the state government.
This will enable the people of these castes to get many benefits of the Central Government meant for the backward classes. Reservation in employment and education in Central Government institutions is not available to the OBC category of Odisha. If you are included in the Central List of OBC categories from SEBC, you can get all the benefits of reservation. You can also get the 27 percent reservation for education. Shri Biswal expressed hope that the state government will submit a report to the Center in this regard soon.
