BHUBANESWAR: ଭୁବନେଶ୍ୱର ସାଂସଦ ଶ୍ରୀମତୀ ଅପରାଜିତା ଷଡ଼ଙ୍ଗୀ ଆଜି ଝାରପଡା ଗଣେଶ ମଣ୍ଡପ ହାଟର ଉଛେଦସ୍ଥଳିରେ ପହଁଚି ପରିଦର୍ଶନ କରିବା ସହିତ କ୍ଷତିଗ୍ରସ୍ତ ବ୍ୟବସାୟୀମାନଙ୍କୁ ଭେଟି ଏହି ଦୁଃଖଦ ସମୟରେ ସମବେଦନା ଜଣାଇବା ସହ ସମସ୍ତ ପ୍ରକାର ସହଯୋଗ କରିବାକୁ ପ୍ରତିଶୃତି ମଧ୍ୟ ଦେଇଛନ୍ତି. Local BJP leaders Jagannath Pradhan, Sunita Mund and local Corporator were present during MP’s visit to the demolition site.
Earlier, Jharpada Ganesh Bazaar Byabasayi Sangha had filed FIRs against the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) , Bhubaneswar Development Authority(BDA) and General Administration Department of the State Government alleging illegal eviction drive that left hundreds of small time vendors and traders in dark.
Some 64 traders led by BJP leader Jagannath Pradhan and local BJP corporator , had filed FIRs against BMC, BDA and GA department at Laxmi Sagar police station alleging loot and seeking rehabilitation and adequate compensation from them.
As many as three houses, 14 godowns, 25 polythene sheds and 97 shops – all tin structures – were razed during an early morning drive on Friday. Over 50 wooden/tin cabins were also pulled down by the joint enforcement squad of BDA and BMC in presence of Commissionerate Police during the drive despite stiff resistance from the shopkeepers and vendors.
BJP leaders, however, continued to dub the eviction drive as a political vendetta as their party’s Dharitri Jena won the corporator seat from Ward 33.
