RAJKANIKA/AUL: Kendrapara BJD Lok Sabha MP, Anubhav Mohanty has visited the crocodile attack victim’s family at Parimakundapur village under Parinuapada GP under Rajknaika block of Kendrapara’s Aul Assembly segment represented by ruling party’s Pratap Keshari Deb.
MP Mohanty along with local Sarapancha Pabitra Rout visited the victim Rudra Behera’s family and met his father Bholanath Behera. MP Mohanty assured all possible support to the bereaved family. District Administration assured to grant Rs lakhs 4 lakh compensation to the victim’s family. MP Mohanty has also requested district administration erect bathing barricades at villages facing sea.
Sources said in an unfortunate incident, a 15-year-old boy was attacked and dragged into Kharasrota river by a crocodile in Parimakundapur village under Rajkanika block of Kendrapada district.
The victim, Rudra Behera a class 10 student of Bharigada Nodal High School, and son of Bholanath Behera was taking a bath in the river when the incident occurred at around 2 pm.Following the incident, the officials Fire Services swung into action and a massive operation has been launched till late evening to trace the boy by power boat and country boats.
According to locals of the village, two friends had gone to bathe in the river at about ,1.30 pm, when out of no where a crocodile appeared all of a sudden and dragged away one of them. The other friend had a narrow escape.The family members have raised allegations, the villagers have however started a proper search operation.
B.B.Tudu Asstant Fire Officer Kendrapada fire station said “we got information at about 2 pm that at village Parimukunda pur a crocodile has dragged a boy in Kharasrota river.We search him by power boat 4 to 5 hours till late evening.Some country boat also help us.When we were going to close the search operation body was found.But crocodile had ate his one hand and one leg .
