New Delhi: Pakistani left-arm pacer Mohammad Amir made a return to the national scenario after being included in the side’s limited overs series squad against New Zealand.

Amir, who served a five-year ban and jail time for indulging in spot-fixing during the 2010 tour of England, was expected to make the squad after being brought back into the national camp despite some resentment by fellow players

Although, there is still a possibility of the pacer not boarding the plane to New Zealand.

The 23-year-old’s comeback is dependent on him getting a visa and clearance to tour New Zealand.

If the youngster manages to get clearence then it can propel Pakistan’s pace bowling. Amir who was compared to Wasim Akram five years back when he was a teenager, can add some much needed vitality in Pakistan’s bowling attack.

Pitches in New Zealand that caters to fast bowling and swing could see a rejuvenated Amir getting his acts right and deliver the goods.

Amir who is ecstatic about making a return to the side, will be hungry to perform and take wickets. New Zealand conditions is ideal for someone like Amir. The youngster hasn’t featured in any ODIs or T20s in New Zealand earlier, so it will be interesting to watch him bowl.

With the likes of Rahat Ali and Wahab Riaz likely to feature in the playing XI, Amir’s presence in the team could bolster the attack for Pakistan and help them purchase something from the conditions.
