Modi hails Naveen after Geeta Mehta’s details put in COVID-19 portal

NEW DELHI/BHUBANESWAR: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik was on Wednesday got a major boost from Prime Minister Narendra Modi after the BJD boss registerd the details of his elder  sister Geeta Mehta alias ‘Rani’ on the Odisha government’s COVID-19 portal.

In a tweet, the Prime Minister stated, “Setting a great example, Chief Minister! I hope others also emulate Naveen Babu. We all can do our bit in preventing the spread of COVID-19.”

Earlier in the day, the Odisha Chief Minister said he has registered the details of his sister, Geeta Mehta on the COVID-19 portal after her return from abroad. He also appealed others to register details of their family members and friends returning from abroad.

The Odisha government today said a total of 2,131 persons returned from 80 countries have registered themselves on the State government’s COVID-19 portal, https://covid19.odisha.gov.in/ so far.

In New Delhi, Modi chaired a high-level meeting to review the ongoing efforts to contain COVID-19.  Ways to further strengthen India’s preparedness were discussed. This includes further enhancing testing facilities.

‪Prime Minister emphasised on actively engaging with individuals, local communities and organisations in chalking our mechanisms to fight the COVID-19 menace. He also urged officials and technical exports to deliberate on the steps to be taken next.

‪Prime Minister expressed gratitude to all those at the forefront of combating COVID-19 including the various State Governments, medical fraternity, paramedical staff, armed and paramilitary forces, those associated with aviation sector, municipal staff and others.

Prime Minister will address the nation on 19th March 2020 at 8 PM, during which he will talk about issues relating to COVID-19 and the efforts to combat it.
