BHADRAK/BHUBANESWAR: Even though, the final results yet to come but the initial trends coming from Dhamnagar bypolls in Odisha’s Bhadrak district, turning out to be nightmarish for Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, who has been very focal for Mission Shakti participation in electoral battles. Since BJD’s lauded putting Abanti Das as ‘Maa’ downplaying Party’s strong man Raju Das, was only card to win over votes but trends saying otherwise.
BJD’s power block led by Babby Das and others failed to convince party’s decision to put Abanti instead of Raju in the battle, to the ranks and files.
At the end of 7th round counting for Dhamnagar bypolls, BJP’s Suryabanshi Suraj got 31, 108 votes while BJD’s Abanti Das got around 25,908 votes and trail by 5200 votes from BJP. Suraj lead by 5200 Votes.
Independent candidate Raju Das got 4953 votes and Congress candidate got 1122 at the end of 7th round of counting. BJP’s Suryabansi taken lead in all the 6 round counting.
About 14 large tables are in place for the purpose and the counting will be completed in 18 rounds. However, the Postal Ballots counted first.
The outcome may likely impact on 2014 general elections since both BJP and Congress gearing up to confront with Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, who has been ruling this eastern State since 2000 with wining 5 consecutive elections. In last by polls, held in Jharsuguda, Jagatsinghpur , Pipili and Balasore BJD had won all these seats.
