CUTTACK/BHUBANESWAR: State Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Pramila Mallick along with SRC PK Jena on Wednesday reviewed the flood situation in the State, which has affected all most all 10 districts.
At the high level meeting held at Rajiv Bhawan, Minister Mallick advised officials to speed up relief and rescue operations. Minister Mallick and SRC Jena closely monitoring the situation on direction of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, sources said.
This was for 1st time (after 2011) that so much water flow is seen at Mundali. But water-level has started to decline at Mundali, Khairamal. Floodwater has breached two more river embankments in Odisha, one each in Puri and Jagatsinghpur district
Meanwhile, a father-son duo who had been trapped in the floodwater in the middle of the Mahanadi river at Amangeikuda in Athgarh block of Cuttack district have been rescued by the ODRAF team after five days.
However, the Odisha Government has cancelled the leaves and holidays of Government officials in 10 districts for a week. Besides, those who are already on leave have been ordered to join their duties immediately.
According to reports, the leaves and holidays of government officials in Sambalpur, Sonepur, Boudh, Anugul, Nayagarh, Khordha, Cuttack, Puri, Jagatsinghpur and Kendrapada have been cancelled for seven days.
On the other hand, in Capital City , the Backwater from Daya river entered Sundarpada area in outskirts of Bhubaneswar.Water from Daya River has inundated the low-lying areas in Sundarpada. Meanwhile, the locals alleged that there is power outage and no drinking water supply in the area
