ROURKELA/BHUBANESWAR: Asiq Jamal , a senior officer working with Central Excise Department, having link with Odisha and Jharkhand Mining ,lobby was on Saturday came under CBI scanner.
The CBI conducted a raid at the residence of Central Excise Department official in Rourkela, where most of the mines company’s offices located. The official has good contacts with mining lobby in both Odisha and Jharkhand.
CBI sources said that the accused officer has involed in several corruption cases and earned huge money from Chaibasa, Joda, Koira , Rourkela in Odisha and Jharkhand based Mines owners.
The searches are being conducted jointly by Odisha and Jharkhand team in connection with alleged corruption charges against the officer, identified as Asik Jamal.
Acting on the allegation against the accused officer, the CBI team raided Jamal’s quarter at Sector 6 here today. Several documents, papers are being verified till the last report came in.
