BHUBANESWAR: On Wednesday , at 9.40 AM Sri Satrughana Behera, B.E.O, Marshaghai in Kendrapara demanded and accepted undue advantage (bribe) of Rs. 20,000/- from the Complaint. (Retired Staff) in his office chamber at Marshaghai in order to process his provisional pension and other retirement benefits.
The accused Sri Satrughana Behera received the bribe money Rs. 20,000/- in his right hand and kept the same in the right side office table drawer, and on seeing the Vigilance staff, managed to escape from the office through back side door.
The tainted bribe money Rs.20,000/- has been recovered and seized from the office table drawer of the accused in presence of witnesses. The cotton wash of the table drawer was taken which gave positive reaction.
In this connection, CTC Vigilance P.S.Case No. 32 dt. 10.5.2022 u/s 7 P.C.Act, 1988 as amended by P.C (Amendment)Act 2018 has been registered and is under investigation. His higher authorities have been intimated for necessary departmental action. Steps are being taken to apprehend the accused BEO. Further report follows.
