Manorama Bus Mishap Deceased Identified, Transport Department orders probe, Baijayant Panda expresses condolences to the bereaved Families

KENDRAPARA/BHUBANESWAR:  2 out of 3 deceased were from Rajkanika and Aul in Kendrapara and were identified as Raja of Odagiria village under Rajkanika block and Anusaya , of Badanko village under Aul block.  Both killed in the bus accident at Katarpada Chhaka near Nischintkoili in Salepur, Cuttack while third deceased not identified yet till last reports came in.

 “Poor visibility owing to foggy conditions might have led to the accident. The exact cause can be ascertained after a probe,” said Transport Commissioner Amitabh Thakur.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has expressed deep grief over the death of 3 persons in the tragic bus-truck collision on the Cuttack-Chandbali State Highway at Katarpada Chhaka near Nischintkoili in Salepur, Cuttack.

The Odisha CM has announced an ex-gratia of  Rs 3 lakh each for the next of kin of the deceased. 9 people were seriously injured in this accident. The injured have been admitted to SCB Medical College & Hospital in Cuttack. The Chief Minister directed to provide them with good treatment and wished them a speedy recovery.

The incident happened after Passenger Bus ‘Manorama’ coming from Nandagohira in Chandabali to Cuttack-Bhubaneswar, collided with Truck on Cuttack-Chandabali State Highway at Katarpada Chhaka near Nischintkoili on Tuesday morning.

Sources said, Due to dense fog, the driver of the bus could not notice the truck on the road and crashed the vehicle into it. As a result, three persons were killed and over 30 persons were seriously injured.

‘Deeply saddened by the loss of precious lives in the tragic road accident near Katarpada Chhak of Nischintakoili in Cuttack. Heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and prayers for the speedy recovery of those injured, seeking blessings from Mahaprabhu Jagannath for their well-being. Om Shanti, BJP National Vice President and former Kendrapara MP, Baijayant Jay Panda said in an X post.

‘Deeply saddened by the tragic loss of lives in a road mishap at Katarapada near Nischintakoili on Cuttack-Chandabali road on Tuesday. Expressing deep condolences, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 3 lakh each for the kin of the deceased & proper treatment for those seriously injured, in the accident.Praying for the speedy recovery to the injured.Om Shanti, ‘ BJD MP Manas Mangaraj said.
