BHUBANESWAR: The Manage Autism Now (MAN) observed the Annual Day celebration on Sunday here at Regional Medical Research Centre (RMRC) and also celebrated Autism Awareness Day on this occasion.
Prof.(Dr) Ashok Kumar Mahapatra, former Director of AIIMS, Bhubaneswar graced the occasion as Chief Guest along with Prof.(Dr) Asoka Kumar Das, former Vice Chancellor, Utkal University, as the Chief Speaker. Dr. Samrat Kar, Department Psychiatry, SCB Medical College, Dr Soumya Darshan Nayak, Dept of Neurology, SCB Medical College, Dr Sanghamitra Pati, Director, RMRC were the other dignitaries who were present in the occasion. Sri Satkadi Hota, President, Executive Body, Autism Therapy Centre (ATC) presided over the function.
Dr Ashok Mahapatra said on this occasion:’ this is a very good forum to create awareness on Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and provide behavioral therapy to the children with the help of experts from different organization”.
The function was full of different activities like the prizes distribution among the students for their achievements in Sports & other competitions as a token of appreciation and encouragement.
A cultural programme performed by the special children of ATC. A street play on Autism by the professionals of NIRTAR Institute. Dr. Nalini Menon, Director, Rainbow Centre for ASD, Spastic Society of Karnataka, Bengaluru, who presided over a seminar-cum-panel discussion on Autism.
Lastly, Swarnalata Mishra, Chairman, MAN Trust said: “MAN trust since its inception has been organizing various activities on different occasions in the city to bring the autistic children and parents under one roof with an aim to create a conducive atmosphere where both special students and the parents learn to resolve unwanted behavior amicably. Mishra also expressed her gratitude to Prof D N Mishra, Principal, DAV School of Management (DSBM) and Sanjiv Nayak, Director, Silicon for their outstanding support always for the Trust.
