BHUBANESWAR: Mamata Bastia, ASI has been arrested and is being forwarded to the Court. In this connection, Bhubaneswar Vigilance PS Case No.17 dated12.07.2023 U/s 7 Prevention of Corruption Amendment Act, 2018 has beenregistered and is under investigation.
Mamata Bastia, ASI of Police, SaheedNagar Police Station, Bhubaneswar UPD, Dist-Khurdha has been apprehended byOdisha Vigilance for demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe)Rs.15,000/- (Rupees Fifteen Thousand) from a complainant to help her in a caseregistered in Saheed Nagar PS of which she was an Investigating Officer.Based on the above complaint, a trap was laid on 13.07.2023, where in the accused Mamata Bastia, ASI was caught by the team of Odisha Vigilance inside house of complainant at Saheed Nagar, Bhubaneswar while demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.15,000/- (Rupees Fifteen Thousand) from the complainant.
The entire bribe money was recovered from the possession of Smt.Bastia and seized in presence of witnesses. Both hands wash as well as carry bag wash of Smt. Bastia gave positive chemical reaction, confirming acceptance and handling of bribe money by her. Following the trap, simultaneous searches have been launched on the residential house of Smt. Bastia located at Aurovil apartment, CDA, Cuttack and her house at village Biradi Cuttack, PS-Raghunathpur, Dist-Jagatsinghpur. .
