Major Setback to Anti JSW Project Lobbyists’: Dhinkia Villagers Opposes Prafulla Samantra led Delegation

BHUBANESWAR/PARADIP: The so-called left learning intellectuals and anti-industry and mining lobbyists, on Saturday faced rough weather when they tried to entered into troubled Dhinkia Panchayats, where tension erupted on Friday over the demolition of betel vines for the Sajjan Jindal led JSW Steel’s Integrated Steel plant in this coastal districts of Jagatsinghpur close to Paradip Port.

Lok Shakti Abhijan convenor, Prafulla Samantra and small time Left leaders , faced the wrath of locals when they tried to enter into their village. Locals alleged that their village was quiet and peaceful and outdoors like Samantra led delegation creating trouble.

Locals while blocking their vehicle to proceed to the trouble site, told the delegation, that they did not want outside people visit village without their permission. The Locals alleged that the so-called activists damaged their brotherhood.

Meanwhile, the JSW project proposed at three panchayats under  Ersama tehsil ,Jagatsinghpur district  is getting more and more public approval. On Saturday , the company has provided financial assistance of more than Rs 1 crore to 126 betel vine beneficiaries in Gobindpur village of Dhinkia panchayat.

In 2010-11, the POSCO company had demolished 1118 betelvines.  The concerned  owners  had been paid Rs 11,500 per decimal as compensation.  But subsequently JSW had announced an extra compensation amount of Rs 6,000 per decimal. Of these 1,118 beneficiaries, 126 from Gobindpur village were given the increased amount today.  In addition, the betel vine owners who had not received any compensation at that time, will be paid subsequently. During the POSCO campaign, 2,700 acres of land and 1,118 betel vines were acquired.  At present, however, the betel vine survey and demolition work is in progress in the proposed area for the JSW Project.

The beneficiaries are provided with Rs 17,500 per decimil. Today, 126 beneficiaries from Gobindpur village have expressed pleasure on receiving the increased amount of compensation from JSW Company and have reposed increasing confidence on the company.
