BHUBANESWAR: Days back, Complaint Kumari Durga Das, Age 15 Yrs, D/O Badal Das of village – Bausingidi, P.S – Chandbali, Dist – Bhadrak, At / Pr – Santi Vihar, Saliasahi, P.S – Maitri Vihar, Bhubaneswar reported in writing alleging there in that, she is only 14 years old and resides with her family at Saliasahi. On Dt 27.5.2024 at about 12.30 midnight to 1.00 A.M she was sleeping in her bedroom along with her mother, father and other siblings. In the meantime her father Badal Das gave bad touch to her and sexually assaulted her. Out of fear and shame the victim girl did not disclose the incident to her mother but when her father went out on work she disclosed everything to her mother. Subsequently her mother brought her to Maitri Vihar P.S and she submitted written report at P.S.
On her report Maitri Vihar P.S Case No 235, Dt 27.5.2024, U/S 376 (3) IPC/ Sec 6 of POCSO Act has been registered and S.I Priyadarsini Behera was entrusted for investigation .
In course of investigation as prima facie evidence is well established against the accused father Badal Das committing sexual assault on his minor school going daughter, he has been arrested on Dt 28.5.2024, at 12.45 A.M. After arrest he was sent to capital hospital at 10.30 A.M with proper escort by C/346 Bikram Behera and OAPF / 244 Jagu Sisa for medical examination as per proforma attached and after medical examination the escort party with the accused returned to P.S.
After reaching at P.S the accused Badal Das requested the sentry to allow him to attend the call of nature and he was allowed to do so. Suddenly the accused bolted the door of the toilet inside which was informed by the sentry to the I.O Priyadarshini Behera. Immediately the I.O and others knocked the door but in vain. They heard the accused groaning in pain so the police personnel present there suspecting something foul, broke open the door of the toilet and found Badal Das has inflicted bleeding injuries on his person. Accused Under a deep sense of remorse himself inflicted the injury by using a sharp cutting object upon himself with a view to commit suicide.
All sincere steps were taken to stop the bleeding immediately . without any delay the accused was shifted to Capital Hospital, BBSR by police vehicle to give him essential medical aid to save his life. After reaching at Capital Hospital he was provided with necessary medical treatment and subsequently referred by medical officer to SCB & MCH for better treatment. His life is presently out of danger and he is admitted in SCBMCH for full recovery.
In relation to this a criminal case has been registered vide Maitri vihar PS case number- 237/24 U/S 309/326/324 IPC. Departmental action is being initiated against the sentry who was on the watch.
