MUMBAI/NEW DELHI: Call it Modi-Shah duo overpowered Pawar’s Power in Maharashtra by making it sure that only Devendra Fadnavis for Chief Minister.
Soon after the BJP led Government took oath on Saturday morning, the National Congress Party (NCP) appears to have split after its leader Ajit Pawar was sworn in deputy chief minister of Maharashtra Saturday morning after President’s rule in the state was revoked.
He appeared to have checkmated his uncle and party chief Sharad Pawar who insisted that his nephew’s decision was his own and not the party’s.
“Ajit Pawar’s decision to support the BJP to form the Maharashtra Government is his personal decision and not that of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). We place on record that we do not support or endorse this decision of his,” Pawar tweeted.
Senior NCP leader Praful Patel also backed his boss saying the 78-year-old leader did not prompt his nephew to join hands with the BJP.
“This is not NCP’s decision and does not have Sharad Pawar saheb’s support,” Patel said.
Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Ajit Pawar has stabbed the people of Maharashtra in the back, said Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut . Ajit Pawar took oath as the deputy chief minister of Maharashtra on Saturday.
“Ajit pawar was in meeting yesterday.He wasn’t having eye contact during the meeting. His body language was suspicious. Then he left.midway saying that he has a meeting with a lawyer. His phone was switched off. Now. we know which lawyer he went to. He has backstabbed the people of Maharashtra,” he said.
Distancing himself and the NCP from Ajit Pawar’s move, his uncle and party supremo Sharad Pawar said that his support to the BJP is his “personal decision”.
Early in the morning, drama ended finally.In a dramatic move, BJP’s Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday took oath as the Maharashtra chief minister while NCP’s Ajit Pawar was administered oath by Governor BS Koshyari as the deputy chief minister.
After taking oath as the CM for a second term in Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis said people had given BJP a clear mandate, but Shiv Sena tried to ally with other parties after results, as a result President’s rule was imposed. “Maharashtra needed a stable govt not a ‘khichdi’ govt,” he said.
“Congratulations to @Dev_Fadnavis Ji and @AjitPawarSpeaks Ji on taking oath as the CM and Deputy CM of Maharashtra respectively. I am confident they will work diligently for the bright future of Maharashtra,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted.
