PURI/BHUBANESWAR: With Chariots making in full swing amid COVID-19 guidelines, Shree Jagannath Temple Administration, Chief Administrator Dr Krishna Kumar was on Wednesday announced the schedule of rituals to be conducted on Lord Jagannath’s Snana Yatra(Bathing Ceremony) slated for June 5.
SJTA Chief Administrator Dr Kumar after holding a high level meeting with Chhatisa Nijog, in which Puri SP, Umashankar Dash was also present, said schedule of the bathing rituals of Lord Balabhadra, Devi Subhadra and Lord Jagannath has been finalised.
Due to restrictions imposed in view of COVID-19, ‘Sahan Mela’ or public darshan would not be allowed this year.Meanwhile, the SJTA Chief Administrator said, “As it is difficult to maintain social distances during the Pahandi, alternative plans are being considered.”
As per the schedule, ‘Dhadi Pahandi’ of the deities will be performed from 1 am to 4 am on June 5. The deities will be escorted from sanctum sanctorum during the Snana Mandap during the pahandi ritual.At 4.30 am, ‘Mangal Alati’ of the deities will be performed followed by ‘Mailum’ at 4.40 am and ‘Tadapa Lagi’ ritual at 5 am. This will be followed by ‘Adhara Pochha’, ‘Abakasha’, ‘Rosahoma’, ‘Besasesha’, Surya Puja and other rituals.‘Jala Bije’, puja and snana rituals of the Holy Trinity will be performed from 7.30 am to 9.30 am.
Puri King Gajapati Dibyasingha Deb will perform the ‘Chherapanhara’ or ceremonial sweeping ritual at the ‘Snana Bedi’ at around 10.30 am.
‘Hati Besha’ of the deities will be held from 11 am to 12 noon. The akala Dhupa Neeti’ will be performed from 1 am to 3 pm.During ‘Bahuda Pahandi’ rituals from 5 pm to 8 pm, the deities will retire to ‘Anansar Ghar’ after the bath.
