Lord Jagannath enters Sanctum Sanctorum of the Srimandir, visit restricted to Puri till July 31

PURI/BHUBANESWAR: The deities have entered the sanctum sanctorum of the Srimandir following Niladri Bije rituals.Lord Jagannath and His siblings’ annual sojourn, Rath Yatra, has concluded smoothly on Saturday. Lord Jagannath has emerged on Ratna Singhasana and He will give darshan to the devotees.

But, due to coronavirus pandemic, no devotees will be allowed inside Puri temple. The daily rituals of the deities will be performed as usual by the servitors.

 All the rituals like Mangalaarati, Mailama, Tadaplagi, and Abakasha were performed on the chariots on Saturday. The Charmala was tied at 5 pm.

The idols of Ramakrishna and Madana Mohana were first taken inside Srimandir followed by Lord Sudarshan. Subsequently, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra were carried into the sanctum sanctorum of the Srimandir.

Meanwhile, a quarrel ensued between Mahalaxmi and Lord Jagannath as he was away for nine days with sister Subhadra leaving her in the Srimandir alone. After the ceremonial Pahandi, Lord Jagannath met Goddess Laxmi and offered Rasagolas to her to pacify her anger.As the rituals were completed, Lord Jagannath was taken to Ratna Singhasan where he joined his siblings.

Amid a spike in COVID-19 cases, the Puri district administration today imposed restrictions on the visit of outsiders to the district from Sunday till July 31.

Puri District Collector Balwant Singh said the administration will keep vigil on three entry points, Puri-Bhubaneswar, Puri-Astarang and Jagannath Sadak so that outsiders cannot enter the district.
