BHUBANESWAR:With the aim of giving a new identity to the world famous Hirakud of Sambalpur on the international tourism map, the ‘Hirakud International Half Marathon’ is going to be organized on February 15, 2026. In this regard, Union Education Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan today unveiled the official logo and jersey of this marathon.
Shri Pradhan said that this marathon is not just a race, but a means to take Hirakud to the world stage. The marathon is being organized by Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) and the Odisha government is fully supporting it. The aim of this mass race is to boost the tourism sector of Sambalpur and create awareness among the people for building a ‘Healthy Sambalpur and Healthy Odisha’. On this occasion, the Union Minister has called upon citizens from all walks of life to register in maximum numbers. He said that the double engine government is committed to increasing tourism in Hirakud.
Odisha Sports and Youth Services Minister Shri Suraj Suryavansi was a prominent present at the event.
