In a major breakthrough, Jagatsinghpur Police busted a gang of hardcore armed dacoits during a night operation under Krushnanandapur PS on the intervening night of 8/9 October 2025.
Four dreaded criminals — including notorious gang leader Chinku Tarei (involved in 33 cases) and his close aide Sk. Rahimuddin — were nabbed from a jungle hideout near River Mahanadi while planning a highway dacoity on Cuttack–Paradeep Road.
Police seized gold ornaments, swords, an iron rod, a Yamaha FZ bike, mobiles, chilli powder, and face masks from the spot.
This gang had been spreading fear across Jagatsinghpur, Paradeep, Kujang, and Tirtol areas. Their arrest has prevented a major crime and brought a sense of safety and relief to citizens.
