KORAPUT: Koraput district received the National Panchayat Awards 2024 under the ‘Nanaji Deshmukh Sarvottam Panchayat Satat Vikash Puraskar’ category from the President of India Droupadi Murmu on Wednesday.
Koraput Collector Keerthi Vasan V along with ZP President Sasmita Meleka and CDO & EO Debasish Patnaik received the award at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi.
The recognition highlights Koraput’s exemplary contributions to sustainable and inclusive development. Ministry of panchayat raj has grouped the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into nine localised themes, termed as localised SDGs.
The themes include poverty-free and enhanced livelihoods panchayat, healthy panchayat, child-friendly panchayat, water-sufficient panchayat, clean and green panchayat, self-sufficient infrastructure in panchayat, socially just and socially secured panchayat, panchayat with good governance, and women-friendly panchayat.
The Collector attributed the achievement to the collective efforts of field staff and elected panchayat representatives. “The district’s exceptional performance across all LSDG themes by its 240 panchayats made this award possible,” he said.
The accolade, the collector noted, serves as an inspiration for further excellence in governance and public service delivery.
“This recognition motivates us to deliver the best for the administration and continue our journey of sustainable development,” said Keerthi.
