Koraput District-Police Administrations Gears up for Twin Polls

JEYPORE: As the announcement for general election made by the Election Commission of India on 17.03.2024, it has been decided to hold the Odisha assembly elections together with the Lok Sabha elections.  In this context, elections will be held in four phases in Odisha.

A meeting on model code of conduct was carried by the District Collector Keerti Vashan and SP Abhinav Sonkar at Collectorate Korput regarding the fourth phase of the general election which will be held from May 13.

All arrangements have been made by the district administration to conduct a fair, free and impartial, impartial and peaceful election in the district. Collector said people cooperation in this great work of democracy is essential as the  Koraput constituency  polling was kept in first phase of election necessary arrangements are made said District Collector.

The polling on 13th may for 5 assembly constituency and 2 parliamentary constituency election will start from 7 am to 6 pm for Jeypore constituency and for Lakshmipur, Koraput, Pottaingi and Kotpad constituency it will be from 7am to 4pm.

The polling party for Jaipur assembly seat will leave 1 days before while rest 4 assembly constituency the polling party will leave 2 days before.

Keerti Vasan argued all the registered voters  to participate in the largest occasion of democracy and to vote in a free and fair way in all 1158 booths. While SP  Abhinav Sonkar said all necessary security arrangements along with paramilitary forces have been done and the police department is alert and committed for a free and fair election.

The gazette notification for election will start on 18th may while the last date for nomination will be on 25th may scrutiny of nomination on 26th may while withdrawal on 29th may and voting on 13th may and result will be on 4th June.

In Koraput district, the total number of voters are 9,69,091 among which 500405 are women voter’s 22500 18 to 19 year voters while 11355 voter’s in the age group of  (85 years and above)

In the district special polling centers for lady voters and  Sakhi polling centers have been set up for Dibangals. All the booths in the district will been done  webcasting with photography.

Since the announcement of the state assembly election along with the general election (16.03.2024) the model conduct has been implemented.  In this regard, all the rules of the Code of Conduct are applicable to all candidates, political parties and both Central and State Governments.

All arrangements have been made to adhere strictly to the guidelines of the Code of Conduct.  Flying Squad, Video Viewing, Static Surveillance, Expenditure Monitoring and Accounts Monitoring teams have been formed to monitor this.
