BHUBANESWAR: Gopal Das, an ASI of police opened fire at Odisha Health Minister Naba Das at Gandhi Chhak here in Jharsuguda district.
Gupteswar Bhoi, SDPO, Brajarajnagar said accused cop, identified as Gopal Das, was immediately nabbed and then detained by police for questioning. He was serving as an ASI at the Gandhi Chhak police post. Minister Das , one of the powerful crorepati BJD leader from State’s western part on Sunday, shot on his chest by the ASI at in Brajrajnagar of Jharsuguda district.
Minister Das, sustained bullet injuries after the ASI fired at him while he was rushed to hospital.
The incident took place near Gandhi Chhak here when he alighted from car to attend a programme and his supporters were garlanding him.
