BHUBANESWAR: The Special Crime Unit was notified as a Police Station 10.05.23 and since then the unit is functioning in the 3rd floor of Police Seba Bhawan with one each DCP & Addl. DCP, two each ACPs and Inspector, six ASIs and 08 constables.
Achievements: Since the day of its inception, the crime unit has taken up investigation of 10 cognizable cases. Out of these cases, four relates to detection of narcotics and six swindling cases. In the month of September 2023 the unit has registered four cases as against four cases in the previous month.
Out of the cases registered in this month two cases each have been registered under NDPS Act and swindling.
Recovery: Till date the unit has seized 409 grams of brown sugar costing 45 lakhs and 100 Kgs of Ganja worth of Rs 10 lakhs from the accused persons. Beside this, in the swindling cases of September, cash of Rs 5.47 lakhs and a country made pistols in connection with Case No 5/23 has also been seized.Arrest: In all these four cases registered under NDPS and swindling, 17 accused persons have been arrested and forwarded to court and all together 22 accused have been arrested so far.
