BHUBANESWAR: 42 year old Preeti Desai, a B Tech graduate who reportedly hails from Karnataka, arrested on the charges of cheating a Rajasthan-based businessman, Anil Goyal.
A team of Kotwali police from Rajasthan with assistance from the local Chandrasekhar police here arrested the accused. As per reports, Preeti had allegedly married Anil in 2017 and was staying with him till 2019. After duping him of several lakhs, she left him and subsequently came to Bhubaneswar.
It is alleged that Preeti used to establish contacts with wealthy businessmen and influential people through various social media platforms by posing as an IT professional.
Subsequently, she used to visit some victims after strengthening the relationship, establish physical relations with them, and click some intimate pictures without their knowledge. She also lured some people with nude video calls.
