BHUBANESWAR: In a major setback to BJD, on Monday, Kendrapara Zilla Parishad Chairman and senior Women wing leader Geetanjali Sethi joined BJP at a function held at State Party Headquarters in Bhubaneswar.
Sethi along with her supporter, joined BJP in presence of Odisha in charge Vijay Pal Singh, Co-Pravari Lata Usendi, State President Manmohan Samal, former President , Samir Mohanty, Kendrapara Election Pravari Sajjan Sharma, Kendrapara District President Kishore Panda, former Zilla Parishad member, Jyostnarani Jena and others were among those present.
Few days back, former BJD Kendrapara MLA Sipra Mallick had resigned and joined Congress and later became INC’s MLA candidate for the Assembly seat in the district.
Geetanjali said she quit the party in the interest of the people of Kendrapada and joined the BJP after being inspired by the ideals and performances of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
