BHUBANESWAR/KENDRAPARA: Instead of seeking apology to the people of Kendrapara for his failure to attend them during COVID-19 and Amphan crisis, Biju Janata Dal Lok Sabha MP from Kendrapara Parliamentary seat in Odisha, was on Monday defended his absence soon after his arrival at the Biju Patnaik International Airport by New Delhi-Bhubaneswar VISTRA flight and said he has been following the calls of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik of ‘Home Stay’ and was unable to back in time as lockdown as imposed.
When asked about his Kendrapara visit, MP Mohanty said he would visit if allowed by the State Government and District administration. The MP’s reaction seems clearly saying he was not a mood to immediately rush to Kendrapara to see the plights of people facing in Rajnagar and Mahakalpada areas in view of the cyclone Amphan under Kendrapara Lok Sabha seat. The MP said, he has been in constant touch with Kendrapara Collector Samartha Verma.
He also defended when asked about his long absence but his party leader Arup Patnaik , who was stranded at Mumbai, drove straight to Bhubaneswar when some relaxations were made on Road transport while BJP Bhubanswar Lok Sabha MP, Aparajita Sarangi came in Train.
He padded questions when asked about his opponent and BJP National VP-Spokesperson and former 4th times MP, Baijayant’Jay’ Panda , who has been frequently visiting Kendrapara after Amphan and closely monitoring COVID-19 since past 3 months.
