KENDRAPARA: Exactly 27 years back, History was written, when late Biju Babu as Odisha Chief Minister, bifurcated undivided Cuttack, formed Kendrapara as a Separate District.
An old photo shows that, On April 3,1993, On dias with legendary Biju Babu, sitting, were then Ministers Surendra Nath Nayak, Late Bed Prakash Agarwal, Late Nalini Kanta Mohanty, Bijoy Mohapatra, then MP Pravat Samantray, Aul MLA Rajamata Sushree Debi of Aul Royal Palace.
Due to nationwide lockdown in view of COVID-19 outbreak , no major functions were held to mark the occasion.
Kendrapara District is well known as the Tulasi Khetra. Epics unveil the fact that Lord Balram killed Kandrasura here. Then he married his daughter Tulasi and settled here. Since then the place is known as Kendrapara. The District now has 1592 revenue villages.
