NEW DELHI/BHUBANESWAR: The ruling Biju Janata Dal MP from Odisha’s coastal pockets of Kendrapara, Anubhav Mohanty, who had raised the plight faced by retired Military personnel in the Lok Sabha during the Monsoon session, which ended on Thursday, met Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and reminded him of BJP;s manifesto on Ex-Service men.
“The resettlement of Indian Armed Forces was emphasized in the Bharatiya Janata Party’s 2019 manifesto, which was talked about Skill Development and other civil jobs after the retirement of the soldiers, along with the government to appoint the Veteran Commission. It was also promised but National Commission For Ex-Servicemen Bill, 2015 is still pending on which no action has been taken. After retiring at a young age, most of the soldiers face re-employment, social and economic problems on this topic ,” the BJD Lok Sabha MP Mohanty said.
“I personally met Defence Minister, Shri Rajnath Singh ji and urged Indian soldiers to provide better resettlement, National level Authority and National level Database after retirement and also submitted the letter to them. But the Union Defence Minister assured proper action and every possible cooperation soon,” MP Mohanty said adding “Indian Army is our pride and it is our responsibility to ensure their respectful life.Hail India ??Hail Soldier Hail Farmer ??Vande Mataram,”.
Earlier, while demanding skill development training for India’s Armed Forces for their post retirement life, ruling BJD Lok Sabha MP, who is also a leading Odia Film Actor, had demanded to implement National Commission for Ex-Servicemen Bill-2015 , which is pending for approval. Raising the issue in Lok Sabha, MP Mohanty had argued that many retired armed forces personnel could be used for civil jobs if they were provided skill development trainings and tips.
“Everybody talks about Indian Armed Forces but nobody think about their post retirement life,” the BJD MP said adding that a special budgetary allocation should be made in Union Budget for skill development training to retired armed forces. MP Mohanty also demanded that, a National level database should be made on retired armed forces those are in civil jobs after retirement.
