Keeping Visionary Shri OP Jindal’s Legacy Intact, Naveen Jindal Leads Jindal Brothers in Partnering Odisha’s Progress

    BHUBANESWAR/ANGUL: Call it ‘United We Stand’ for Odisha’s development to materialise Visionary Industrialist and Philanthropist Father Shri OP Jindal’s love for this mineral and coal bearing eastern State. It was perhaps for the first time in recent years, 4 Sons of Shri OP Jindal, stood united to steer Odisha’s progress to fulfil the aspirations of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and State Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

JSPL Chairman Naveen Jindal’s elder brothers like Prithvi Jindal, Sajjan Jindal and Ratan Jindal on Sunday paid a visit to Angul Steel Complex in Odisha and oversee on-going expansion work.

    Old timers in industry and mining sectors said, during his time, Shri OP Jindal, along with IMFA Group founder late Dr Bansidhar Panda, were frequent visitors to legendary Biju Patnaik’s residence, called Naveen Niwas in Bhubaneswar, where present Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik resides or at his Kalinga Tubes at Choudwar in Cuttack in early 60s and 70s. After that rest his History and  Shri OP Jindal’s brainchild Jindal Steel and Power Limited(JSPL), is now a household name in the Country including in Odisha and 4 of his Sons flourishing with high profile business conglomerates.

    Since last 2 months, after presenting its vision for 2030 to both Union Steel Ministry as well as Naveen Patnaik led Government, JSPL Chairman Naveen Jindal has been frequently travelling to Odisha to review the on-going expansion work. JSPL making all efforts to turn its Angul Steel Plant the world’s largest and greenest single-location steel plant, thus putting Odisha on the global steel map.

    JSPL’s Vision 2030 focuses on enhancing the capacity of its 6 MTPA Angul integrated steel plant. At the existing steel plant,  JSPL producing steel through one of its kind technology wherein Swadeshi Coal is being used to produce Synthesis Gas which is utilised for production of DRI. The Angul steel plant will expand its total capacity to 25.2 MTPA through clean energy resources with an additional investment of Rs 1.20 lac crore by 2030.

    JSPL Angul is seeing an expansion of substantial green steel manufacturing capacity through Hydrogen-based DRI and EAF route. The complex will also house a 12.5 MTPA cement plant to utilize the Blast Furnace Slag and Fly Ash to produce environment-friendly, Green cement.

    JSPL’s Vision 2030 for 25.2 MTPA steel capacity at Angul also entails substantial investments to develop the iron ore and coal mineral industry and build a world-class logistics infrastructure. The company plans to invest in a state-of-the-art Port and a dedicated Railway Line to connect the Port, the Angul facility, the Barbil Pellet Plant and its Raigarh plant in Chhattisgarh. The company is focussing on the robust supply chain mechanism and raw material transportation.

    JSPL initiatives, thus, are expected to create 60,000 plus direct job opportunities and around 3,00,000 indirect employment opportunities in Odisha. The company’s operations in Odisha are likely to generate economic activity to the tune of nearly Rs 1.5 Lakh crore annually, with the state exchequer getting richer by potential revenues of around Rs 7500 crore per annum.
