BHUBANESWAR:Union Education Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan strongly criticized the West Bengal government while participating in the ‘Mahanagar Teachers’ Conference’ organized in Kolkata today, saying that vote bank politics has become the priority of the West Bengal government instead of education.
Shri Pradhan said that the holy land of West Bengal has provided intellectual and ideological leadership to India. Great personalities like Swami Vivekananda, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and Rabindranath Tagore have shown the country the way. Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay’s timeless composition ‘Vande Mataram’ completes 150 years today, which was the inspiration for the Indian freedom struggle.
The Union Minister has alleged that education is not a priority for the West Bengal government, which has been giving the slogan of ‘Maa, Mati, Manush’, but is busy with vote bank and appeasement politics. By not implementing the ‘National Education Policy 2020’ brought by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the state government is pushing the future of children towards darkness. There are no teachers in thousands of schools in the state, which shows the disaster of the education system. The entire education campaign, important projects like the establishment of PM Shri Schools and Kendriya Vidyalayas have been stopped in the state. Shri Pradhan said that the future of children will be secured only by keeping education above politics. The dream of building a “developed Bengal and developed India” can be realized only with the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Modi and the resolve of the BJP government.
In this conference, the Union Minister interacted with teachers from different parts of West Bengal, listened to their problems and promised to bring reforms in the education sector. The event was attended by many teacher representatives including West Bengal leader Shri Subhendu Narayanan and Odisha Higher Education Minister Shri Suryavanshi Suraj.
