BARGARH: It is truly commendable to see the efforts made by the Bargarh Sambadik Sangha and the local forest department to commemorate the freedom fighters of Bargarh district through the Sangrami Smrutibana memorial. The establishment of this memorial at the foot of Kajilibjili Hill near Bagheibira reflects the respect and gratitude towards the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters.
The efforts taken to create the memorial are particularly noteworthy. Bringing soil from the freedom fighters’ villages and planting various varieties of saplings in the names of the 153 freedom fighters is a touching and meaningful gesture to honor their memory. It is heartwarming to learn that the saplings have been carefully nurtured for a year to mark this special occasion on Kargil Day.
The unique program organized by the Bargarh Sambadik Sangha and the Forest Department, akin to the birthday of “Smritibana”, is a beautiful way to celebrate the completion of one year for the memorial. Cutting a cake and paying tribute to the freedom fighters in front of the memorial saplings adds a personal touch to the commemoration.
Moreover, it is heartening to know that the employees responsible for taking care of the saplings at the fighter memorial were recognized and rewarded for their dedication by receiving increment notices.
The presence of the Assistant Conservator of Forests of Bargarh Bankhand Rajendra Kumar Gochrayat, President of Bargarh Sambadik Sangha Shankar Ballabh Mishra, forest staff, and members of Bargarh Sambadik in the program signifies the collective effort and support of the community in honoring the freedom fighters’ legacy.
Overall, the program stands as a fitting tribute to the freedom fighters of Bargarh district and serves as a reminder of their courage, sacrifice, and dedication to the cause of India’s independence. May their memory continue to inspire generations to come.
