BHUBANESWAR: On Friday, a short while ago, Sri Kailash Chandra Behera, Assistant Revenue Inspector (ARI) of Sorana RI Circle under Chilika Tahasil in Khordha has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance while demanding and taking bribe of Rs. 20,000/- from a functionary (Complainant) of Chilika Adrabhumi Sangrakshyana of Sorana for furnishing favourable report in respect of some landless villagers including sons of complt under RI Sorana for getting land under Vasundhara Yojana of Govt. of Odisha in R&DM Department (A sceme meant for landless people to be provide with land). The entire bribe money has been recovered from possession of accused Sri Behera, ARI and seized.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at two locations of Sri Behera, ARI from DA angle.
In this connection, Bhubaneswar Vigilance PS Case No. 01/2025 U/s 7 PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered. Investigation is in progress against accused Sri Kailash Chandra Behera, ARI.
It is pertinent to mention here that accused ARI Sri Kailash Chandra Behera was earlier arrested by Odisha Vigilance in Bhubaneswar Vigilance PS Case No. 11/2016 under PC Act, while demanding and taking bribe of Rs. 5000/-. The case is now sub-judice.
