BHUBANESWAR: Belying all speculations and political stalemates, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday broke his silence and asserted that Police have been directed to probe the matter without fear and apprehension and action will be taken against the culprit in teacher Mamita Meher murder case.
While presenting his statement in the State Assembly, Chief Minister Patnaik, said, ‘it’s a sensitive matter and it is being politicized,”. State Minister Dibya Mishra, has been accused of for his close proximity with murder key accused Govida Sahu, now in Jail.
“Death of Mamita Meher was a very sad and unfortunate incident and we are all deeply anguished and pained by this heinous crime; I reiterate that My Government is fully committed to ensure justice to Mamita Meher,” Chief Minister Patnaik’s statement presented Assembly said.
“I am deeply concerned that there are attempts to prevent one of our colleagues – an Hon’ble Member of the House from discharging his duties; I appeal to the respected members of the opposition parties tocooperate in the smooth functioning of the house: CM’s statement in Assembly,” CM said in his statement.
Earlier, As soon as the House assembled for the third day at 10.30 am on Friday, BJP and Congress MLAs rushed to the well holding banners and raised slogans demanding the removal of MoS, Home, Dibya Shankar Mishra for his alleged close relation with the prime accused in the case.
The opposition members alleged that Mishra has a close link with the accused and was involved in the murder. Unable to transact any business, Speaker S N Patro first adjourned the House till 11.30 AM and now till 4 PM.
Claiming that entry of Minister of State (Home) Dibya Shankar Mishra has desecrated the state Assembly, a group of BJP legislators ‘consecrated’ the House by sweeping and sprinkling Gangajal (the holy water) and cow-dunk water on the premises.
Meanwhile, the state government on Friday submitted the status report in Orissa HC on the investigation into woman teacher Mamita Meher murder case in Kalahandi.
