NEW DELHI/BHUBANESWAR:Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram and Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan meeting Surface Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari in New Delhi on Thursday 28 for alignment approval of 550km Coastal National High Way approval from Digha in West Bengal to Gopalpur in Odisha.
Both Oram and Pradhan urged Gadkari to expidite the work. “As the project is a key for eastern region, particularly for Bengal and Odisha, we requested Gadkariji to personally look into the issue,” the two Ministers from Odisha said.
Total 1800 km new NH projects including 550 km long NH was announced and its implementations are in different stages after NDA government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi came to power. Around 2200 KM NH was constructed in Odisha during regime of Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, whereas total 1000 KM NH was constructed during both UPA-I and II in the State.
Gadkari has approved the proposed another 2500 km long NH construction in next few years in the State, Pradhan added.Total 6,000 km NH will be constructed in Odisha during Vajpayee and present NDA government, told Pradhan.
