JAJPUR/BARBIL/BHUBANESWAR: With environment conservation as a core value, JSW Utkal Steel in association with Keonjhar Forest Division of Odisha, transferred 205 decade old Sal trees in the first phase from the proposed slurry pipeline way on NH-20 this Thursday. This first phase relocation would be through in a week’s time.
This relocation initiative for grown trees in a scientific manner has been undertaken to contain tree felling from the unavoidable development projects that are underway. H.D Dhanraj, DFO Keonjhar, A.K. Satpathy, DFO Keonjhar Wild Life Division, Anandpur), Janak Nayak (Tahasildar, Ghatgaon), Subrat Kumar (IIC, Ghatgaon), Ashok Das, ACF, Keonjhar Forest Division and Ghanashyam Mahanta, ACF Keonjhar Forest Division and Pravat Kumar Kumar (Range Officer, Ghatgaon) were present on the inaugural day along with JUSL representatives. Company’s representatives Baswaraj Dalgade (GM Corporate Affairs, JSW Steel Ltd.) and Yugal Kishore Barik (Senior Manager JSW Steel Ltd.) were also present.
JSW Utkal Steel Limited (JUSL) has proposed to lay one of the world’s largest slurry pipeline system for transportation of iron ore fines from its proposed Grinding, De-sliming Plants & Slurry pumping Station at Gobardhanpur, Barbil Tahasil in Keonjhar District to proposed Integrated Steel Plant at Paradeep, Jagatsinghpur. As part of the process, the company will undertake relocation of grown Sal trees to be felled over the area identified by the Forest Department preferable along the NH-215 (now N11-20).
