BHUBANESWAR: JSW Steel Chairman Sajjan Jindal was on Monday assured the Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to start work on 12 MTPA Steel Project in Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur, where earlier South Korean steel major , PSOCO failed.
“We are fully committed on Jagatsinghpur project and work for the project will start soon start as our mines started operations,” Sajjan told Naveen Patnaik.
During the video chart, Chief Minister Patnak stressed on maximum value addition of State resources within the State. Chief Minister Patnaik told JSW Steel Chairman to start the project soon.

Stressed on maximum value addition within #Odisha to create jobs for our youths & accelerate revenue generation. #MakeInOdisha,” Naveen Patnaik tweeted @Naveen_Odisha.
Sajjan Jindal said that JSW is tying up with IIM Sambalpur to create “JSW Centre for Development Studies for Odisha.” He added that JSW has plans to invest over Rs 1 Lakh Crore in Odisha in next 10 years.JSW Steel will also establish a 100-bedded hospital and a school at Koida in Sundergarh district in PPP mode with an objective to develop mining areas for the benefits of the local people. With the full support of the State Government, this development project will be established soon, he added. Odisha Chief Minister also assured Jindal that the Government will take all steps to expedite grounding of the projects in the State.
JSW Steel has got nod of Union Forest and Environment Ministry to produce 29 Million MT per annum from 4 blocks of Nuagaon Iron Ore, Ganua Iron Ore, Jajang Iron Ore and Narayanposhi Iron and Manganese. Mining operations have already started at all 4 blocks under Joda-Koira mining circles of State’s mineral rich Keonjhar and Sundargarh.
Company hoped that once the 4 blocks functions with full capacity, it is expected to produce around 36 Million MT per annum and meet about 70% of its requirements. At present, Sajjan’s JSW has only 15% own Iron Ore resources.
JSW won 4 major blocks which earlier held by KJS Ahluwalia Group and Rungta Mines Ltd Group– Nuagaon (won on January 31),Narayanposhi ( won on February 2) and Ganua ( won on February 5) and Jajang ( won January 6) – with total ore reserve of 1,138.34 million tonnes. With the 4 Mines, an iron ore reserves linkage of more than 1,100 million tonnes has been secured for JSW Steel of Sajjan Jindal.
