PARADIP/BHUBANESWAR: Solar lights are being installed by JSW Company in Dhinkia, Nuagaon and Gadakujanga panchayats under Ersama block of Jagatsinghpur district. In the first phase, about 200 solar lights are to be installed in Dhinkia and Nuagaon panchayats, out of which 100 solar lights have been installed so far. For years, the proposed areas have been prone to irregularities in power services and frequent power outages. Consequently, locals have been facing numerous difficulties in transportation during night hours. In a bid to address this issue, decision was taken to install solar lights in different locations by JSW to facilitate peripheral development in and around the proposed areas.
With the consent of the villagers, village committee and local representatives, proposals were sought for the identification of black spots for the installation of the lights. Post this, senior officials of the company probed the identified locations.
In the first phase, solar lights have been installed in Hanuman temple in Mahal village of Dhinkia panchayat, Ramchandi temple, in front of the school, community centre, Trinath mandapa, Primary Community Health Centre of Dhinkia village, ‘matha’, high school, Phulkhai temple and in the panchayat office. In addition, the solar lights have been installed in front of Mahadev Temple in Patna, Hanuman Temple, primary school, the club house and the end of the village.
Similarly, solar lights are being installed in Bhagwat Tungi Chhaka, Balisahee, Mathsahi school, Nuagaon Bazaar, Siddhagumpa Peetha, Dadhibaman Jew Pada and other 60 identified locations of Nuagaon Panchayat. The installation of the lights will be completed within the next three weeks. The company has invested ₹60 Lakhs for the entire setup of the solar light installation. The second phase of solar light installation is scheduled to take place in Gad Kujanga Panchayat.
Solar energy is proven to be an alternative energy source, especially in the face of power outages. The aim is to ensure that these renewable energy sources are properly utilised and used as an alternative to electricity. JSW has always laid prime emphasis on Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR) under which many developmental works such as beautification and improvement of the Anganwadi Centres, school improvement, mega health care camps, free eye check-ups and donation of power spectacles in these three proposed panchayats are being undertaken.
JSW is planning to set up a green regional steel plant in the proposed area. The sustainable project will be built on the principles of state-of-the-art green technology. The company has been adhering to its commitment to energy conservation owing to climate change. In addition, it is expected that in the near future, various developmental works will be carried out that are aligned to facilitate a positive ambiance for the locals. Prior to the establishment of the company, the initiation and execution of such peripheral developmental activities in the local area are being highly appreciated and praised by the locals.
