PARADIP/BHUBANESWAR: The Sajjan Jindal led JSW Steel, which had successfully acquired, Bhushan Steel and Power Limited, in Odisha, and is also eying on Jajpur Kalinga Nagar based Neelachal Ispat Nigam Limited (NINL) , a defunct PSE, too , has assured a bunch of developmental works including road construction, health infrastructure, peripheral development and afforestation in the project site at Paradip in Jagatsinghpur in coming days.
The JSW project includes a 13.2 MTP crude steel plant, 900 MW captive power plant, 10 MTP cement plant and 12 MTP jetty in their vicinity at Paradip in Jagatsinghpur. The villages like Polanga, Bhuyanpal, Bayabandha, Nuagaon, Balisahi, Mathasahi, Patana and Mahala are likely to be affected by the JSW projects.
The Jagatsinghpur district administration conducted several round of public hearing on proposed JSW projects at Dhinkia village. Collector Parul Patawari sought the cooperation of villagers.
State Minister Raghunandan Das , who hails from Jagatsinghpur assured that issues raised by villagers before the JSW project starting locals complaints would be addressed. Local SP Akhelshvar Singh, Tahasildars and BDOs of Erasama and Kujanga, PRI members, Dhinkia PS member Devendra Swain, trade union leader Nirvaya Samantray, activists Manorama Khatua, Chandan Mohanty viewed opinions at the public hearing. JSW COO Ranjan Nayak took note of local resistance and also assured all possible developmental work for project affected site. JSW COO Ranjan Nayak informed that several CSR works have been undertaken by the company in proposed project site villages in Dhinkia, Gadakujanga and Naugaon panchayats. The JSW clarified that jobs would be provided to the project-affected people, who would also be suitably compensated as per the Government R&R policy.
