BHUBANESWAR: Amid criticism, both positive and negative, the Jindal Steel and Power Chairman, Naveen Jindal , on Tuesday strongly backed ‘Project Cheetah’ as part of which, 8 brought from Namibia to Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Birth Day.
In a series of tweets with photos of Cheetahs brought to Kuno National Park, the JSP Chairman, said “ Cheetahs became extinct in India 70 years ago. However, we Indians never forgot them- they continued to be part of our stories, art forms and folklores. Today, they are back- 8 cheetahs have been brought from Namibia as part of a reintroduction program. #ProjectCheetah,’.
In another tweet, the former 2 times Lok Sabha MP , said “ We hope our grasslands at Kuno National Park will provide a place for them to thrive and we see their population rise steadily. A very welcome initiative. Kudos to all those involved in bringing these Cheetahs 🐆 to India… May the #ProjectCheetah achieve success and we bring more of these big cats. #CheetahProject,”.
JSP Chaitman Naveen Jindal’s full support to the project came days after former union minister Jairam Ramesh calling Prime Minister Narendra Modi “a pathological liar” and had shared a photo of a 2009 letter.
The row over the credits of Project Cheetah continuing between the central government and the opposition Congress. On last Saturday, PM Modi had released cheetahs brought from Namibia into a special enclosure at Madhya Pradesh’s Kuno National Park as part of the programme to reintroduce the feline in India seven decades after it was declared extinct in the country in 1952.
