BHUBANESWAR: Today i.e on 22.01.2026, a short while ago, Sri Janaki Ranjan Mallik, Revenue Inspector(RI), Kakhadi Circle under Sadar Tahasil, Cuttack has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance while demanding and taking bribe Rs.10,000/- from a land owner to submit favourable report in his favour in respect of a mutation case filed by him and issuance of ROR (Patta).
The land owner had applied online for this purpose. But, accused RI Sri Mallik had fixed the date for hearing on mutation case on 27.1.2026, and asked the land owner to report in RI office on 20.1.2026. When the land owner met RI Sri Mallik on 20.01.2026, Sri Mallik demanded bribe Rs 10,000/- from him to submit favourable report in mutation case. But, the land owner expressed his inability to pay the demanded bribe.
However, Sri Mallik insisted on taking bribe from the land owner. Finding no other way, the land owner reported the matter to Vigilance authorities. Following this, a team of Odisha Vigilance nabbed Sri Mallik, RI, today in his office while taking bribe Rs 10,000/- from the land owner. The entire tainted bribe money has been recovered from the possession of accused Sri Mallik, RI and seized.
