BHUBANESWAR: On Monday, a short while ago, Sri Jagaa Bariha, S.I of Police of Bijepur P.S, Dist-Bargarh has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance while demanding and taking bribe of Rs.7,000/-from a scrap dealer (Complainant) to allow him to run his business smoothly and not to lodge any case against him.
Accused S.I Sri Bariha had demanded bribe Rs.10,000/- from Complt for the above purpose. When complt expressed his his inability to pay the demanded bribe Rs 10,000/- , Sri Bariha reduced the amount to Rs.7,000/-. At the same time, Sri Bariha also threatened complt to take strong action against him, unless he was paid the bribe Rs.7,000/-. Left with no option, complt reported the matter to Vigilance authorities.
Following this, Vigilance Officers nabbed Sri Bariha, SI of Police, today, while taking bribe Rs 7,000/- from the complt. The entire tainted bribe money Rs.7,000/- has been recovered from the possession of accused Sri Bariha and seized.
