Today , Judge Miss Karonika Ghosh , J.M.F.C. (III) , Bhubaneswar , sentenced Assamese Gayadhar Jena to three years in prison after hearing a land fraud case that took place in Bhubaneswar’s Shahidnagar police station area in May this year .

After the incident:

It is noteworthy that Gayadhar Jena , Managing Director of Sarala Realcon Private Limited , had taken Rs. 12,50,000 /  from the complainant Pradeep Kumar Nayak on the promise of providing a land in Kordakanta Jharpada . Despite repeated requests for a long time , Gayadhar Jena did not return the said money or provide the promised land. The complainant further alleged that when he went to Assamese Gayadhar Jena to resolve the matter , he misbehaved with him and his wife. In this regard, the complainant filed a written complaint at the Shahidnagar police station.

Based on the complaint of the complainant Pradeep Kumar Nayak, a case was registered at Shahidnagar Police Station under Case No. 226 , dated 10.05.2025 , Section 420 IPC, and the initial investigation was given to ASI Siddhartha Shankar Sahu of the police station. During the investigation of the case, Assamese Gayadhar Jena was immediately arrested and a charge sheet was filed in the Honorable Court on 31.05.2025.

In the above case , the Hon’ble Court, on the basis of 5 different witnesses and 49 relevant documents related to the incident, has sentenced Assamese Gayadhar Jena to undergo rigorous imprisonment for 3 years with fine of Rs. 10,000 under Section 420 of the IPC and in case of non-payment of fine, to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a maximum period of 3 months. He has given the order .

The case was prosecuted by Additional Public Prosecutors Shri Vijay Kumar Barik , Syed Mohammed Anwar, and Shri Akshay Prasad Behera on behalf of the government .

It is to be noted here that Assamese Gayadhar Jena is a known land mafia and a notorious fraudster. More than 30 cases have been registered against him in various police stations of Bhubaneswar like Sahidnagar, Laxmisagar and Bargarh police stations.

It is worth noting that while a total of 92 cases were framed last year , this is the 97th case this year in which the Bhubaneswar Urban District has framed the accused .
