TEHERAN/BAGDAD/DUBAI: Iran fought back with launching air strike on US forces callin them as American terrorists. Near about 80 “American terrorists” were killed in attacks involving 15 missiles Tehran launched on US targets in Iraq, Iranian state television said on Wednesday.
The media outlet said that none of the missiles were intercepted.Media reports citing a senior Revolutionary Guards source said Iran has identified 100 other targets to hit if Washington dares any retaliatory measures. It also said US helicopters and military equipment were “severely damaged”.
Iran launched missile attacks on US-led forces in Iraq in the early hours of Wednesday in retaliation for the US drone strike on an Iranian commander.
U.S. Defense Secretary Mark Esper said had on Tuesday the United States wants to de-escalate tensions with Iran, but the country is ready to finish any war that could be started.
“We are not looking to start a war with Iran, but we are prepared to finish one,” he said. “What we’d like to see is the situation de-escalated.”
The U.S. drone strike on Friday that killed Iranian military commander Qassem Soleimani has sharply escalated tensions with Iran, raising fears of all-out conflict. Washington says it killed Soleimani in self-defence, aiming to disrupt his plans to attack U.S. personnel and interests.
