BHUBANESWAR/NAYAGARH: “Kudos to S.I.T.under ace IPS officer @arunbothra who have cracked the ‘Pari’murder case with solid forensic evidence.Shame and hopefully some self reflection by those who doubted the competence of the team set up by HCM @Naveen_Odisha .The unfortunate victim will get justice now,” BJD Lok Sabha MP from Puri, Pinaki Misra, tweeted @OfPinaki. Puri MP Misra’s tweet came following the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Odisha Crime Branch headed by flamboyant IPS officer of 1996 batch of Rajasthan Origin, Arun Bothra, arrested one person in connection with the Pari kidnap and murder case in Nayagarh.
The accused will be produced before the POCSO Court on Monday.Official sources said the accused is a resident of Jadupur village under Nayagarh Sadar police limits. A case has been registered under Section 364, 302, 376 (AB), 376 (A) and 201 of IPC read with Section 6 of POCSO Act.The investigation into the case is on, the official sources added. SIT officials did not provide the details of the person arrested in connection with the minor girl murder case. Official sources said lie detection test of the concerned person had been carried out.
SIT had earlier picked up one Saroj Sethy, a college student, from Jadupur village along with two of his family members from the village for questioning. Sethy had alleged that the SIT Chief Bothra offered Rs 5 Lakh to take the case on his name. In its probe status report, the SIT informed the Orissa High Court that the minor girl was sexually assaulted before being brutally killed. The High Court fixed the next hearing of the murder case on December 24.
