BHUBANESWAR:Swachhta Pakhwada, an initiative by Government of India to promote cleanliness, is being organized throughout the nation from 01.7.2019 to 15.07.2019. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dedication and commitment towards ‘Swatch Bharat’ has raised the level of responsibility amongst the people, towards keeping our society clean, is one of the major concerns. On this occasion, a cleaning activity is being organised today by IndianOil under “Swachhata Pakhwada” at Gundicha Temple, Puri.
With the nine days of sojourn of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Suvadra at Gundicha temple, now back to Srimandir for Suna Bhesa(Golden attire). Hundreds of devotees witnessed the Bahuda Yatra (Return Car Festival) at Srigundicha Temple in Holy city Puri to pay obeisance to the deities on the eve of Bahuda Yatra yesterday. Hence a need to call for a cleanliness drive nears the vicinity of Gundicha Temple and Grand Road.
Nearly two and half hours cleanliness drive was led by Mr. Debi Prasad Satapathy, General Manager (HR-CSR) IndianOil along with other senior officials from Oil Industry. MLA,Puri Jayant Sarangi joined and actively participated in the drive with full enthusiasm. Sarangi appreciated IndianOil for this noble cause. The dealers and distributors of Oil Industry, around 200 volunteers from Puri Local also participated in this drive.
Addressing the participants, Satapathy emphasized on the need for a litter free environment. He also said that while such exercises will be continued, it is the responsibility of all to keep our premises neat and clean thereby, ensuring zero tolerance to litter. He also enthused the public with the inspiring words, “Swachhta should not remain restricted as a time specific event but should be ingrained in our habit and living.”
