BHUBANESWAR: Locals and eyewitness alleged that suspended BJD MLA from Chilka , Prashant Jagdev in intoxicated mood ran over BJP workers while injuring several , in Banpur of Khordha district inviting murder cases under section of 302 of IPC on Saturday.
Besides, critically-injured persons have been shifted to AIIMS Bhubaneswar for treatment while 7 police men also badly injured. Sources added some 20 both BJP and BJD workers also injured.
Sources said, the Bahubali MLA was on his way to Banpur in his SUV for election to the post of block chairman post, scheduled to be held on Saturday. Since there was rush near Banpur block office for the election, the legislator ploughed his vehicle into the crowd injuring around two dozens of people, including 15 BJP and one BJD workers.
While one injured woman was declared dead at a hospital in Banpur, two others were shifted to Bhubaneswar. Anguished over the incident, locals made a murderous attack on the legislator injuring him severely. The mob also vandalized his vehicle.
Meanwhile, BJP leader Priwiraj Harichandan and Congress leader Dharanidhar Nayak demanded strong action against the MLA for his unholy act.
