Internet Services Resumes in Odisha’s violence hit Sambalpur

SAMBALPUR/BHUBANESWAR:   After a weeklong suspension in the aftermath of violence during Hanuman Jayanti celebrations , mobile internet services resumed in Odisha’s Sambalpur town, on Sunday.

The services were restricted since April 13 to curb circulation of inflammatory messages and prevent misuse of social media.

While internet connectivity on broadband and leased line was restored on Friday, the same for mobile phone users was kept suspended.On the other hand, curfew timings have been relaxed from 5 am to 8 pm here.

Restrictions were imposed since April 13 to restraint circulation of provocative messages and averts misapplication of social media.

The local administration had earlier resumed internet services in some areas of the district including in Naktideul,  Jujumara, Bamra ,Jamankira Kuchinda and  Rairakhol areas.

It may be noted here that Whatsapp, Facebook,Twitter, Instagram and other social media services of all mobile service provider had been shut down since April 13.
