BHUBANESWAR: Students, faculty members and senior professors of Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan Deemed to be University here on Friday joined the rest of the country in observing the International Yoga Day by organizing a colourful program.
The celebration commenced early in the morning with a yoga session conducted by the professional Yoga Instructor Mr. Akhil Chandra Rana.
A large number of overseas students, presently studying in SOA, also evinced keen interest in yoga and actively took part in the program.
The program was attended by Prof. (Dr.) Ashok Kumar Mahapatra, eminent neuro-surgeon and Principal Advisor (Health Sciences) to SOA, Prof. Jyoti Ranjan Das, Dean (Students’ Welfare), Dr. Kamal Lochan Mahanta, Additional Program Coordinator and Mr. Ajit Kushwaha, Youth Officer, NSS, Bhubaneswar.
The dignitaries spoke about how yoga could help the young generation to become physically and mentally fit and improve their power of concentration which would be beneficial for students in particular.
Around 200 students from different institutes of SOA took part in the event which was conducted by Dr. Saroj Mohanty, Dr. Shyamalendu Tripathy, Mr. Kumar Sambhav Giri and Dr. Mou Roy, all NSS Program Officers.
